Our History

Preserving the Legacy of Model Railroading

We are dedicated to preserving the rich history of model railroading, with a special focus on the iconic Broad Street Station Rotunda. Once a bustling hub for the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR, this historic site now houses the Science Museum of Virginia. In 1977, our organization, the Richmond Freelance & Prototype Model Railroaders, proudly launched an annual show at this location. As we approach November 2027, we eagerly anticipate celebrating the 50th anniversary of this cherished event, which has been a delightful gateway to the holiday season for train enthusiasts and the public at large.
