Our History
Preserving the Legacy of Model Railroading
We are dedicated to preserving the rich history of model railroading, with a special focus on the iconic Broad Street Station Rotunda. Once a bustling hub for the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR, this historic site now houses the Science Museum of Virginia. In 1977, our organization, the Richmond Freelance & Prototype Model Railroaders, proudly launched an annual show at this location. As we approach November 2027, we eagerly anticipate celebrating the 50th anniversary of this cherished event, which has been a delightful gateway to the holiday season for train enthusiasts and the public at large.

Our Journey
Every model railroader has a unique journey, and ours is no exception. Our story is deeply rooted in a passion for model trains and a commitment to sharing this enthusiasm with the community. Here, we provide a glimpse into our rich history, the values that drive us, and the exceptional experiences we offer to our members and visitors. Take a closer look at our narrative and get to know the heart of our hobby club.
